Our mission is to support mothers in need and advance maternal health so every woman receives the care, compassion, and safety she deserves.

Shine Her Light raises awareness of life‑threatening maternal health complications — including preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome — while supporting mothers and families across the full spectrum of maternal health challenges. We recognize that maternal health is shaped not only by medical care, but by stability, safety, and support. Our mission includes helping mothers facing housing instability, financial hardship, and other crises that make motherhood more difficult to navigate. Founded in honor of Katie Harrington, whose light inspires our work, we are committed to addressing the gaps in maternal care that contribute to preventable tragedies.

Through education, advocacy, research, and compassionate community support, we strive to create a safer, more equitable future for every mother and family.

Katie Harrington was a bright, compassionate soul whose greatest joy was lifting others up. From childhood, she dreamed of supporting young mothers and creating a world where no woman faced motherhood alone. Her heart was drawn to helping women feel seen, supported, and surrounded by a village — a dream she carried with her into adulthood.

In 2022, Katie tragically lost her life to postpartum complications. Her passing revealed the painful gaps in maternal health that too many families experience. Shine Her Light was created to honor her legacy and to ensure her spirit of compassion continues to reach mothers who need it most.

Today, we shine Katie’s light forward by supporting mothers in need and advancing maternal‑health awareness and education. Through community engagement, postpartum risk education, and partnerships that strengthen maternal care, we work to prevent other families from experiencing the heartbreak we endured.

Katie’s dream guides our mission. Her love fuels our purpose. And her light continues to shine in every mother we support and every step we take toward safer, more informed maternal care.
